v102 v103 3 3 VeSPA is a free software suite composed of three magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) applications called Simulation, RFPulse and Analysis. These powerful tools are for magnetic resonance (MR) spectral simulation, MR RF pulse design, and spectral processing and analysis of MR data. 4 4 5 The VeSPA suite is a significant rewrite of three existing MRS software tools ([http://cds.ismrm.org/ismrm-2003/0852.pdf IDL-GAVA/Gamma], IDL-Vespa, and Matpulse. VeSPA enhances and extends their capabilities and provides a free, integrated, open source, and open development platform.5 The VeSPA suite is a significant rewrite of three existing MRS software tools [http://cds.ismrm.org/ismrm-2003/0852.pdf IDL-GAVA/Gamma], IDL-Vespa, and [http://www.rrmind.research.va.gov/software/matpulse.asp MatPulse]. VeSPA enhances and extends their capabilities and provides a free, integrated, open source, and open development platform. 6 6 7 7 VeSPA's applications run separately yet communicate among themselves via a shared database of objects and results. One example of inter-application sharing will be that Simulation can make use of an RF pulse designed in the RFPulse application to create a more realistic MR simulation, the results of which can in turn be used as improved prior information in Analysis for a more robust spectral fit to experimentally generated data.
