This is a simulation of a Semi-LASER pulse sequence

Known Bug - metabolites generated by this sequence have a first order phase roll

This is a simulation of a Semi-LASER pulse sequence originally designed by Jerry Matson and Hui (Maggie) Liu at VA San Francisco and UCSF. This was originally presented at ISMRM 2011 talk number 3424. The benefits of Semi-LASER using high bandwidth RF pulses are as follows:

  1. New broadband pulses obtained by optimal control (Matson et al.) Pulses available in MatPulse [5].
  2. Use of semi-LASER sequence to avoid spin echo pulses, uses a broadband excitation pulse .
  3. Dual inversion pulses for echo generation more efficient than a single broadband spin echo pulse.
  4. Dual inversion pulses are used to create in-phase echo.
  5. Excite pulse has 4.9 kH BW
  6. Refocus pulse has 5 kH BW
